Modest Mouse

November 12, 2024

This post is long overdue—almost two months overdue. I’ve been taking my time in thinking about this one as it’s going to be fairly short and sweet. After a wildly disappointing show by Modest Mouse as the headliner of the Outlandia Festival in Bellevue, Nebraska in 2023, I did not have high hopes for this show. In fact, leading up to the show date, my family and I kept making jokes about how we had absolutely no interest in seeing them again after the massive fail in 2023. However, when my friend offered my free tickets the morning of, who was I to pass up on a free concert?

We arrived right on time for Modest Mouse to perform. Modest Mouse came on to an honestly packed house, which was extremely surprising giving the result of 2023, which I’ve now harped on enough. I did not expect many people to be in attendance, but the floor was packed. I know approximately three songs by Modest Mouse, including their most famous one—Float On. To my surprise, for this tour, the band played the entirety of their 2004 album, Good News for People Who Love Bad News. Not only did they play the whole album, they played it in order, meaning Float On was the third song played rather than the expected encore. The lead singer, Isaac Brock, sounded great. The light show that went along to their music was entertaining as well. The 16 song album keep us moving on the dance floor, although admittedly we left at “halftime” before their second set because hey, it was a Tuesday night and I’m getting old. That being said, props to Modest Mouse for cleaning it up and putting on a great show in 2024!
